Bachelor 1 / The house between two walls

Presentation
This house, designed in my first year, had to fit into an atypical plot of land being forty meters long by only six meters wide. The narrow plot of land inspired me to look towards Japan for ideas. Indeed the lack of room in that country requires architects to reconcile the conundrum of plots of land which are smaller than a minimum size necessary to make a comfortable home.
The major challenges of this project were;
i) to ensure natural light is present in the home, ii)
make a clear separation between the "public" and "private" spaces without using dividing walls.
The house is thus separated in two parts by a garden with footbridges, a pond and topped with a window to bathe the center of the house with natural light. The lounge and the dining room are lined with a glass wall not possessing structure but to blur the limit between inside and outside and so enlarge the perceived space.
