Bachelor 2 / Croix-Rousse Housing

Presentation
The aim of this project was to develop roughly twenty housing units on a plot of land situated on the slopes of Croix-Rousse. The first difficulty was that the natural inclination creates a gap of about three meters between the most northerly and southerly points.
The second difficulty was to concurrently work with another student who was developing the other half of the plot. Within the framework of my studies this was the first time that I was not the only decision-maker on my project. However this dynamic was very interesting because it required us to have a deeper reflection on certain decisions.
This district of Lyon did not allow for much room with regards to individual design for new building projects within the locality. It was thus necessary to find other means of differentiating the building from its neighbors. Thus I used a facade which gives way onto an inner courtyard.
There is a welcoming terrace of houses, big bay windows as well as the space for off-street parking. This last point is a significant difference from the rest of the façade thus creating a break in the span of the building.
The angle facing onto the intersection below consists only of windows, thus acting as a visible signal to the nearby streets.
